Its very functional, I like it a lot!

  I would have preferred a more condensed interface: while the portion
on the right allows the user to still see the spatial arrangement of
the rest of the pictures, I have a widescreen monitor @ 1440x900 and
the whole thing just barely fits on my screen. I would experiment with
giving checkboxes for the user to decide whether to display the image
in a side panel, in a caption bubble from Google maps, or using a
lightbox script (don't know if this works well over map + timeline).
  Also, see if you can get the timeline to represent how much data is
at a certain time (I scrolled but didn't know if anything would pop up
at any given time).
