I've been looking through the various examples of Timeline, Timeplot, Exhibit, etc... and started to add references to these on the new wiki. On the old MIT wiki and mailing list, there also exist some references to journal articles and web sites. Of course, a quick google on simile + <any simile project> reveals plenty of good (and not so good) information. My brain started to hurt trying to figure out how to categorize these and where to place them on the new wiki.
So, I created an Exhibit with this info I currently know about. I was basically calling all of these resources. There's a link off the main wiki page: http://www.simile-widgets.org/wiki/Main_Page It's a VERY simple exhibit but gets the job done, I think. It would be nice to include this in the wiki directly but I was not able to add css/js links as well as full HTML code to the wiki page. (permission denied on the AddScripts extensions) If this is a useful thing, maybe one of the web maintainers can add this exhibit to the site. It's powered by a Google spreadsheet that could be shared for collaborative maintenance. Whatever you like. Of course, there is plenty of other info that would be helpful, like versions of sw, special configurations, features being used, authors, data sources, etc... I only included the info that's relatively easy to find and maintain. Like most things, if it's not easy for me to update, I just never get around to doing it! - John ************************************************** John Callahan Geospatial Application Developer Delaware Geological Survey, University of Delaware 227 Academy St, Newark DE 19716-7501 Tel: (302) 831-3584 Email: [email protected] http://www.dgs.udel.edu ************************************************** Stefano Mazzocchi wrote: > Fellow widgetarians, > > the road to a web site consolidation is paved with rather boring and > thankless tasks, mostly involving moving data by hand between > incompatible systems. > > > +------------------------+ > | we need volunteers! | > +------------------------+ > > > We have installed Mediawiki on > > http://www.simile-widgets.org/wiki/ > > we would love to use that to consolidate all the various information > found on various locations, mostly: > > http://simile.mit.edu/wiki/ > http://code.google.com/p/simile-widgets/w/list > > merge them all into the new wiki and remove the old (unmaintained) stuff. > > Also we need to move all the issues that are still on > > http://simile.mit.edu/issues/secure/BrowseProjects.jspa > > and relate to the projects that we moved. > > I already moved all the issues related to Timeplot, but there are still > > 46 related to Exhibit > 135 related to Timeline > > > > > Now, I know what you're thinking: nah, too boring and too much work. > > But there are *750* people on this list.
