What is the advantage of the Jetty webserver over the approach below?

If there are none, I imagine the server is left in trunk for coherence
with other SIMILE widgets.

I think it gives a wrong impression that Timeline would need Java
hosting - if it serves no purpose, wouldn't it be better to remove the
extraneous parts from SVN?
