For a non-duration event (instant event) I wanted to use a stylesheet style
to decorate the event.

I set the icon attribute of an element to point to a transparent image.
(icon="http://someplace/images/transparent.gif";).Then set the classname
attribute to a style (classname="my-event-style").

    <event

        start="May 02 2009 00:00:00 GMT"

        title="Evt Text"

        icon="http://someplace/images/transparent.gif";

        classname="my-event-style"

        caption="some tooltip"

        link="http://somesite.com/";

        >

        Shown in bubble text

        </event>

Style Entry:

.my-event-style{
  padding-left: 15px;
  background-image: url(../images/myimage.gif);
  background-repeat: no-repeat;
}

The image is a 15x15 .gif image.

The
interesting thing is that when the timeline is rendered there are
actually 2 images showing up in a somewhat diagonal positioning.

[?]Any ideas why?

[?]Is there a better way to use a stylesheet to set the icon for a
non-duration event?

Thanks
