Well as it turns out (and just in case someone else has this problem)

The css was the culprit here.  Removing the link to the css file I was
using allowed the
time line to render properly in IE6/7.  Apparently, the "align:
center" in the body section of my
css caused IE to improperly render the bands.

Now the only real difference between IE6/7 and FF is the speed.  IE is
very slow to render
the time line events, and one has to click on the time line itself to
actually have items appear
after loading new events in via ajax.
Almost like the div containing the time line needs to get focus!?

Anyway, this is a great widget!  Very powerful for quick searches
through disparate data sets!
