Hi, the latest developer build pre 2.4.0 which you can get from the svn includes vertical scrolling in the timeline. I used it last year but it never made a stable release. If you're comfortable with using a development version you can use this functionality. If you're not I wouldn't sit around waiting for the 2.4.0 release because lately there isn't a lot development activity around. You can also try the hack described in the wiki setting overflow property in the css.
