I get around this by adding and 'id' to the data as follows:
items: [
{ id: "1"
label: "BigEvent",
type: "1"
},
{ id: "2"
label: "SmallEvent",
type: "2"
},
{ id: "3"
label: "BigEvent",
type: "3"
}
