Hi Eric, That's a great point, the installation instructions (and the software, really) don't provide any obvious, simple way to verify success. Perhaps that needs to be added.
The Backstage service doesn't generally issue a useful response to unadorned HTTP requests. Have you tried just uploading some data, per the upload service described in https://github.com/zepheira/backstage/wiki/HTTP-Interface ? Any Exhibit JSON data would work. Though now I note we also don't describe how you might remove that test data... Hm.
