I was getting this issue, when I included the timeline js include code after some other code (PHP, etc). It started working when I included the timeline js files, the first thing in the file. Usually it is recommended to have the <script> include code, towards the end for better network performance, but in this case, it seems it breaks the Timeline code somehow.
