date numbers in file names can be handled with a symbolic link which
can be created from Calendar rule each midnight. Here are links to

The basic idea is to have a constant name (symbolic link) without
timestamp in the file system, which would be pointed to a relevant log
file with a timestamp at the beginning of a new day.
