Hi again,
With regard to a question on the latest SIMS version, the general
consensus seems to be that 1.8b8 (which I'm using) is what most are using,
with reference to 1.8b9
Could Dmitry please outline the benefits of going to 1.8b9 or if
there's something later again that has even better features? A slightly
better handling of multiple domains as well as auto-replies which reply
using the correct domain are well & truly on my wishlist at the moment.
Because SIMS isn't being supported in quite the same way now that
Mac OSX is out, I'd love to see something similar to the Debian Linux, Free
BSD or Mozilla projects doing the SIMS development, with final testing &
approval for release remaining with Stalker. Because Stalker don't appear
to be going to port SIMS to OSX (where in the UNIX world there's more than
enough competitors already, including the mighty but difficult Sendmail), I
can't see that SIMS would directly compete with any of Stalker's other
products & may benefit from this kind of development.
For those who aren't aware, the Debian Linux project is
administered by a small group of people who do a pile of end testing & bug
resolution before allowing anything to be released. Free BSD is somewhat
similar & the end release products are well & truly stable & bug free in
almost all cases. I reckon SIMS already has that in spades & could see some
really cool additions & features without blowing out it's current low
hardware requirements.

        Bye for now, Terry Allen
