It allows you to specify complex addresses, where the part to the left of the
'@' also contains a domain name. The '%' takes the place of the '@' for the
'nested' address. So if you were to represent the 'nesting' with parentheses,
'postmaster%*@blacklisted' would be '(postmaster@*)@blacklisted'. A more
generalized application of this is what gives rise to the so-called 'percent
hack' spam relay that one of the v1.8 betas (I think, or was it in 1.7?)
closed for us.
