SIMS cannot have multiple local accounts (users) with the same name, which
necessitates:

Yes. The accounts cl1-john and cl2-john are unique in SIMS' local user name
space, which is independent of the domain names used in recipient addresses.
In order for the unique account names to work with your multiple domains, you
create entries in SIMS' router that map recipient addresses to the
corresponding local accounts:

<*@domain1.com> = cl1-*
<*@domain2.com> = cl2-*
etc.

I think you've already grokked this, just making sure. 8^)

Tell them that they'll need to change the user name that they use to check
their mail (i.e., the user name that they log in to the POP server with) to
'prefix-username'. You'll probably want to emphasize to them that their e-mail
addresses won't change, just the user name they use to get mail from the
server. For example, if [EMAIL PROTECTED] uses Eudora, he would change his POP
account setting to '[EMAIL PROTECTED]', but his return address setting
would still be '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'.

I'd think that would be best. Have everything ready and tested beforehand, and
then make the actual switch at the predetermined time. That way you can tell
your users beforehand that after time x, they need to use the new settings to
get their mail.

Sorry, I've never used WebSTAR Mail, so I can't comment on the mechanics of
the switch. I'll leave that to someone who knows more about W* Mail than I do.

Nope. SIMS doesn't pay any attention to the content of messages (nor should
any well-behaved SMTP server), so there's no reason for it to do anything
differently when handling messages with vs. without attachments. However, if
you set size limits on individual user mailboxes, it could affect whether or
not messages with large attachments are accepted, so you'd want to make sure
that mailbox size limits are appropriate for whatever attachments your users
typically receive.
