Hello; I am cross posting this plea because I am not sure where my trouble lies. I set up a SIMS 1.8b8 server on a Quadra 650 [System 7.5.5, OT 1.1.2, 2 meg system memory free, 650 MB disk free] that also runs IPNR for a small network at my church. All of the clients are PCs. This has been running great for two years, but recently, all of the clients have been unable to send mail with attachments through the SIMS server. They receive the message that the server has not responded in 60 seconds. Plain text messages seem sluggish but do go out. I witness the same error from the client machines no matter how I refer to the mail server [public or private IP].
I entered the IP of my home machine into the client hosts list of SIMS to see if I would see the same problem from there. When I sent mail with or without attachments it went out fine. I sent mail from home on my Mac and my PC, no difference, both fast and successful. I have not had the opportunity to take my Mac to church to try that. The clients have not complained about web surfing, and when I tried a couple of pages from their machines everything seemed normal as far as performance. Has anyone had an experience like this? Does anyone have any idea where to start looking? Could it be IPNR or SIMS? I really am at a loss on this one. Please help me out.
