There are ways to do this but I can't remember them, but on the whole this is possible. > can the server be scripted so that on a certain date, 3 months > after the generation of said accounts, all unused accounts can be > deleted and removed? ...when I say scripting, what is doing the > scripting (Apple Script I presume?) I doubt this is possible in SIMS, but your could script a Finder task to do this, since SIMS account are just individual Finder text files each with their own 'last modified' date. > I need to find a system that can generate and query email alias > names and then allocate them to the mailboxes that have been setup. > > for example: student called JOHN DOE wants [EMAIL PROTECTED] his > mailbox name is already configured as x12345......want to be able > to type into a system that will say "sorry name taken, how about > johndoe1" or similar. SIMS can't do this, the alternatives are: to write your own database in something like FileMaker Pro and have the students interact with that via a web page, FileMaker Pro then tells SIMS to create each account (via AppleScript). Or, if you're running OSX you can use CommuniGate Pro which has a cool web-based auto-sign-up feature which will take care of the unique usernames by itself. -- Steve Linford Ultradesign Xtreme Network http://www.uxn.com ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
