Just thought I'd opffer these words of advice for those who need to
move to OSX or OSX Server
I'm unfortunately at the point in the next couple of weeks, where I
will have to switch over from using SIMS - I will sadly miss it's ease of
use & configuration - we simply can't afford Communigate Pro, or Tenon's
Post.Office, so I have had to spend the last 5 days of my week off from
work learning how to build & configure Sendmail.
For those of you who are able to stick with SIMS, I wholeheartedly
recommend doing so, there is NOTHING currently available at the same price
point which can compete with SIMS' functionality - for those who like me
are preparing to jump full bottle to OSX, good luck. Sendmail is NOT an
easy job to configure, but I have the anti-relaying part sorted out as well
as autoreplies. You also need to know that unlike SIMS, Sendmail is only
half the battle - it's the delivery agent, but offers no POP capability -
there are numerous applications which will do that job & much more for you.
If you are trying to decide whether it's OSX or OSX Server, a few
VERY cluey people have looked into my system, which has had both latest
versions running & the underlying architecture is the same for both, just
that OSX Server has some extra 'bits & pieces' sitting on top for server
management.
I'd like to thank Stalker for offering such a massively good &
stable product like SIMS & I am very sad to leave it behind. Had SIMS been
made available with it's current features only, even at a shareware price
for OSX, I would be staying with it. Thanks for all the help of those who
have assisted me on & off this list - I wish the current list members well.
