Would that it were true! <grin>. But seriously I've gotten much more extreme recently upon the urging of many frustrated users. My policy has been to block spam with a very broad brush, but then to be very service oriented and liberal about whitelisting servers where I have reports of legitimate mail that can't get through. For users wanting to get mail from servers that I don't wish to whitelist (for various reasons) I instead create a secret address for them that the user can give out that bypasses all of the blocking. For users that don't like my policy, I turn off all spam blocking to their address. In a couple of months they come running back to me begging for the blocking again. I've recently started to clamp down much more strongly on harvesting, and gradually that seems to be having an overall good effect. For each name on my server I stop from being discovered that could prevent 10s or 100s of spams from ever trying to reach my server over the course of the following year. I really wish someone on this list would publish a way, with Resedit for example, to increase the time that a TempBan lasts since I think that would have a major impact on the new breed of 'distributed' harvesters that don't seem hit me from the same server for another couple of days. >I'd be very careful with SPEWS via Osirusoft and DSBL.
