I'm troubleshooting why a mail server [sometimes] cannot deliver mail
to an account on my SIMS box. This is an AXIS camera, which runs some
version of *nix, which has its own web and smtp server. It takes a
picture, and sends a jpeg via e-mail with its smtp server. Logging on
the AXIS camera is largely related to the web server that it runs
(which is how one administers the camera over a network), its mail
server logs are of no help.
Symptom is the standard Error Code=-39, which indicates that
something interrupted the communication stream and it never
completed, no?
To look at this further, I turned on low-level logging in SIMS, but
this is *all* I get (IP address obscured at request of client]:
10:33:48 3 SMTP-130([xx.xx.xx.xx]) {S.0000144843} reading failed.
Error Code=-39
10:33:48 5 SYSTEM {S.0000144843} discarded
That's it. I was figuring to see plenty of handshaking and stuff like
one sees with low-level logging, and maybe the error would happen
during the [long] message body. But no, this occurs before anything
else happens.
Any clues on what might be going on, despite the paucity of info?
