Hello all,
I thought I'd pass this on and humbly offer this Halloween treat to the SIMS community: Today Hypertouch filed a class action lawsuit against a persistent spammer, Link It Software/AppSales, under California's anti-spam law B&P 17538.45 which provides for $50/message. The full scoop is <a href="http://legal.hypertouch.com";>here</a>. The results of my going to small claims court, getting a judge pro temp with no case law to refer to, were disappointing and by law uncorrectable. So...class actions protect everyone, and I promise there will be no "confidential settlements." All of our portion of any money recovered from the legal action will be donated to non-profit organizations that provide the homeless and unemployed with computer office skills training. We need help now in identifying and counting every spam they have ever sent if anyone has a chance to go through their spam logs. Side note: our attorney, <a href="http://www.fallat.com";>John Fallat</a> is one of the two who saw that California's other anti-spam law was <a href="http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/01/03/1934239";>upheld</a>.

Of course, all of our mail servers are macs, running SIMS.

Happy Halloween,

Joe
