You could add the IP of your secondary to the client-host on your primary. This prevents temp-banning of you secondary. Also you can add some spamtraps in both servers with some addresses used in the dictionary attack.

I have duplicated my blacklist and spamtraps in the primary and secondary, and ofcourse enabled RBL
