Not sure I'm grasping the gist of your issue.  I use spamtraps fine on my
backup MX.  In fact I have a whole section for anti-spam in the router of
the primary MX that routes to error/null/spamtrap as needed, and that is
just cut and pasted into the backup MX's after a change.
