You should post here at least some information about what VopMail is,
at least I did never before hear about it.
VopMail is a mail server package written by Vircom. It runs on a
Windows system, and the particular version we have is their
"VopMail AntiSpam", which is designed to operate as a spam
filtering mail-exchanger in front of other mail servers.
Any system that fails to reject mail sent to non-existent addresses or meant to be relayed back out before accepting it cannot honestly be called an anti-spam tool. Vircom has defrauded you, and I'd suggest demanding your money back. They have apparently sold you a piece of junk. I have to admire their chutzpah in calling that 'Anti-Spam' software.

[...]

I guess what I'm wanting to do, is "whitelist" the VopMail server's IP for
delivery of mail to the SIMS server, but NOT allow it to relay thru the SIMS
server.
It is a flaw in SIMS that it has no router (or other configuration) semantics to mark hosts that are to be trusted delivery clients but not trusted relay clients. Normally, that's not a real problem. However, if you have a piece of software in front of SIMS that can't reject mail to nonexistent users and can't detect unauthorized relay attempts on its own, you lose 2 basic anti-spam features right there and it is rather silly to trust such a machine as a delivery client or a relay client. Of course, none of the blacklists will care if you are just opening up your local delivery to spam with this sort of crapware.

I realize I'm probably stretching the envelope a bit with what we're trying
to do.....
But, hey....Someone has to do it. :)
If you are really committed to continuing to use that garbage software, then you have a serious challenge. Since you've given up the ability to reject mail aimed at bogus accounts by using it, it seems to me that the best thing you can do with SIMS is to turn on the Unknown account and point it at a bit bucket.

If VopMail was any good, it wouldn't accept mail from the outside world which would eventually be routed back out to the outside world. If it was really good and meant to work with any mail server, it would give you a way to hook it into a directory of valid email addresses so that it wouldn't have to accept mail and try it against SIMS via SMTP. With 1.8b8d14 one could even devise such a thing, given a good imagination.
