It appears that SPEWS is no longer blocking Yahoo mail, as of sometime between 4am and noon eastern time.
That being said, a recent reply from Chris Bort noted, >> It looks as though the Yahoo mail server IP addresses *could* >> be put on the "client hosts" list, which would white list them, >> but this would also introduce an undesirable security hole. > >If you consider the amount of actual spam coming through the Yahoo! servers >to be acceptably small, then this is probably the best solution. Allowing that Yahoo was foolish enough to permit spam in the first place, it would seem foolish to allow Yahoo's mail servers to relay through SIMS. Not that they would...but it's a security hole. Remember, this is *relaying*! >> Are there other options in SIMS to white list specific >> servers or IP ranges? Something I've missed in the documentation? > >No. I'm not sure how you'd get a different effect than listing the IP >addresses in you're client host list anyway. SIMS' client host list serves two purposes: 1) Define hosts which are trusted clients, to allow relaying from them. 2) Define hosts from which mail will be accepted, even if otherwise blacklisted. There's a big difference between accepting mail from a host and allowing the same host to relay. SIMS (for historical reasons, I think) uses one list for both, but it may not be the best way to implement whitelisting. ############################################################# This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
