feh. i'm always forgetting the difference between message headers and the envelope stuff. i keep thinking sims looks at headers when it delivers things... silly me.

anyhoo, thanks for the smacks guys. i'll keep my head down from now on :)

but seriously, i'd like to hear if there is anything that would work in conjunction with sims to filter based on content, and i imagine i'll hear about it on this list if there is. but it looks like if i want to do that, i should just go ahead and make the full leap to OS X and sendmail, and use MailScanner or SpamAssasin or something like that (or procmail, for that matter). the linux mail gateway at my office is running mailscanner and it's working like a champ, tho i'd have to learn how to configure it.

i'm not really terribly worried, anyway, since for whatever reason my SIMS server hasn't shown much, if any, increase in traffic with all the email worms going around. i poked around in the logs, and i'm seeing a lot of blacklist entries and relay attempts, but that's just normal for me.

SIMS doesn't catch anything in message data, whether it is in the headers or the body of the message. Defining 'forgery' in a way that ANY MTA can catch without catching perfectly legitimate way is not possible, because there is no way to know what addresses are legitimate for a particular source.
