I've got a new SIMS installation that has been going great so far except for two users who are having problems with attachments. I have an account set up to mirror to a list, so that any message going to that account also goes to these two users. A lot of the messages going to this account have Word doc attachments, and when the two users receive the files they are corrupt more often than not. Both users are on Wintel machines (XP Pro and XP Home). I can also retrieve messages from the same account via Entourage on OS 9 & retrieve the same messages, and I have no problem with the attachments. If it were only one of these guys having the problem, I'd say it was likely his machine, but with two, I don't know. Is there something in the account setup that might affect how it handles attachments? How about in the way the server is set up? Would the File Exchange settings have any bearing on this?

I had a similar problem once that ended up being a firmware problem in a Linksys NAT box: Turns out it was corrupting data queued for output onto my DSL line. Tt recomputed checksums on the corrupted data so that the end receiver could not detect the corruption and ask for retransmission.
It only happened on emails that had large attachments and it only happened on the stuff leaving my LAN.
A firmware upgrade to the box fixed it.
