Recently there was a discussion on spam activity increasing over the holidays. As a result, I tracked my logs carefully to observe activity.
My conclusion - as shown by my daily logs - is that spam activity increases on business days ... and drops significantly on holidays and weekends. (Of course, others may have a different experience - this is just my own finding.)
Does this mean that spammers are using corporate networks somewhere rather than residential broadband connections? There are times when my server is hammered by attempts from a variety of IP numbers in very quick succession ... for example:
