okay. it happened again. this time with just one message in the inbox, ~500k - it had a PDF attached, as well as 3 empty MIME attachments. each time this client has had the pop timeout problem, a message from the same source, with multiple empty attachments (and at least one real attached file)
here are the headers from the latest one (addresses munged to protect the "innocent"). the boundary bits say there's jpegs attached, but when i download the attachments via mail.app, i get empty files (almost empty - 1 byte each)
any ideas?
This is starting to look very much like a corrupt disk. The one thing that could cause both the intermittent timeouts and this apparent mangling of mail would be damage to the HFS filesystem structures on disk. Have you run Disk First Aid on this disk?
