The key is that we need help in maintaining this area. I would prefer that in 
this early stage we pick a single IF and stick with it. I don't want to support

If desired, I'd be willing to try to support the python bindings.
Note:
I'm not very good with the simulator yet.
I've not done any interlanguage linking with python before.
So far, my greatest feats of interlanguage linking are
BAL/FORTRAN, C++/FORTRAN, and AVR-assembly/C.
That said, I rather like python and would
likely get around to python/C++ eventually.
