You're right, for the ...4 devices, this is indeed a mistake (and
should probably be reported to Atmel).  For the original ATmega16,
timer 0 only has a single compare/match channel so there is no
uncertainty.

I /guess/, for the ...4 devices, it's compare/match channel A, but
this should probably be cross-checked on real hardware first.
