(1) 羅芳伯 (Luo fang Bo) was from Mei Xian (梅縣), Guangdong province (廣東省). In 1777AD, Luo Fang Bo founded the Republic of Lan Fang (蘭芳共和國) in the western part of the island of Kalimantan (Borneo). He proclaimed himself the President of the Republic of Lan Fang. After his death the Presidency was elected by Chinese descents only and the natives were excluded. 108 years later, this republic was subjugated by the Dutch. (2) 葉亞來 (Ye Ya Lai or Yap Ah Loy), the Hakka man, the founder of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia was born on 14th of March 1837 in Zhou Tian Xiang (周田鄉) village near a town called Dan Shui Zhen (淡水鎮) in the county of Hui Yang (惠陽縣) of Guangdong province (廣東省). He was named Yap Te Loy (葉德來), but people called him Ah Loy. Eventually he was known as Yap Ah Loy. (3) 張榕軒 (Zhang Rong Xuan) was from Mei Xian (梅縣), Guangdong province (廣東省). He was an Indonesian business tycoon and a philanthropist. (4) 張弼士 (Zhang Bi Shi) was from Da Pu (大埔), Guangdong province (廣東省). He was an Indonesian business tycoon and a leader of the Overseas Chinese in Indonesia. (5) 韓素音 (Han Su Yin) was born, Zhou Yue Bin (周月賓) but changed to Zhou Guang Hu (周光瑚), in a Hakka family originally from Jia Ying Zhou (嘉應州), Guangdong province (廣東省). She was a medical doctor and a world famous author who wrote more than 30 books. (6) 李光耀 (Li Guang Yao) was born in a Da Pu (大埔)Hakka family. He was the first Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore. (7) 李登輝 (Li Deng Hui) was a former Prsident of Taiwan (台灣). His ancestors were from Yong Ding (永定) Fujian province (福建省). (8) 馬思聰 (Ma Si Cong) was from Hui Zhou (惠州), Guangdong province (廣東省). He was a world famous musician (9) 胡文虎 (Hu Wen Hu) was from Yong Ding (永定), Fujian province (福建省). He was a Malaysian business tycoon and a philanthropist. (10) 胡文豹 (Hu Wen Bao) younger brother of Hu Wen Hu (229) was a Malaysian business tycoon. (11) 葉觀盛 (Ye Guan Sheng) was from Chi Xi (赤溪), Guangdong province (廣東省). He was a tin-miner and the leader of the Chinese in the State of Selangor in Malaysia during the 19th century (12) 姚德勝 (Yao De Sheng) was a Malaysian tin-mine tycoon and the developer of the city of Ipoh, the state capital of the State of Perak in Malaysia. (13) 胡仙 (Hu Xian) was the chairman of the World Chinese Newspapers Association. (14) 曾選梓 (Zeng Xuan Zi) was a Hong Kong business tycoon. (15) 伍佐南 (Wu Zuo Nan) was the founder of the Thailand Hakka Associations. (16) 饒耀武 (Rao Yao Wu) was an Indonesian rich financier. (17) 彭雲鵬 (Peng Yun Peng) was an Indonesian business tycoon. (18) 田家炳 (Tian Jia Bing) was a Hong Kong business tycoon. (19) 謝樞泗 (Xie Shu Si) was the leader of the Chinese in Thailand. (20) 丘成桐 (Qiu Cheng Tong) is a world famous mathematician.
