Richard,

am I reading you right when I'm interpreting you to be saying that
there are several distinguished cogsci professionals who have read
Yudkowsky's writings and have serious disagreements with his major
points?

If so, could some of them be persuaded to briefly sum up their major
points of disagreement, even anonymously if they don't want to get
personally involved? The more people that are involved in debating
points concerning Friendliness, the better - and even if those people
wouldn't actually get involved personally, just having their criticism
on record could be useful for people trying to tackle the issue.

(Personally, I can't help but find Yudkowsky's writings consistently
brilliant, so I'd quite curious in hearing reasons for why serious
professionals would consider him a nutcase. And yes, I've read the SL4
war, but hearing more opinions from people not actively engaged in
these circles would still be interesting.)
