No, the problem is, the theoretical framework of AI just isn't there. The AI academics have nothing to deliver.
I think that's a bit unfair. AI academics are a large and heterogeneous group. The AI funding mechanisms are broken pretty badly, so that those AI academics with the most clues about AGI are systematically underfunded... I believe I have an adequate theoretical framework for AGI.
