I basically agree.  AGI will be a continuation of evolution, but using
recursive self improvement rather than biological reproduction with mutation. 
Evolution will continue to favor those species that are most successful at
survival and reproduction in an environment with limited resources.  This is
not necessarily to the benefit of humans.  We already have primitive examples
of this - computer viruses and worms.  Imagine a highly intelligent system
that can analyze software, discover vulnerabilities, and exploit them to gain
additional computing resources.
