Folks,

I am putting together an open demonstration of SIP interoperability
in conjunction with the InteropNet Labs at Networld+Interop Atlanta.
This is meant to be a mechanism to showcase new technology and educate
exhibition attendees. The infrastructure is sponsored by the company
that
sponsors N+I, but all the work is done by a group of volunteer
engineers from academia, government, and industry. We will be
constructing a multidomain "enterprise" environment and incorporating
interoperable SIP components. If you are interested in participating,
please contact me for the details as soon as possible. I have
attached a short faq with additional information.

Thanks...

InteropNet Labs SIP Demonstration at Networld+Interop Atlanta

Who are we?
==========
We are a group of engineers from industry, academia, and government who
are working with Key3Media, the sponsors of Networld+Interop, to put
together a multivendor SIP demonstration. The entire iLabs activity,
including MPLS/QoS, VoIP, multicast, and IPv6, is focused on multivendor
standards based solutions.

Who can participate in this demonstration?
=========================================
Anyone with a SIP implementation that can interoperate with some
success with another SIP implementation. (We will have an H.323 section
as well, but this note focuses on the SIP side.)

Where will this event take place?
================================
We do staging and initial testing at a Key3Media warehouse in Belmont,
California. The event will take place in Atlanta, Georgia during
Networld+Interop. There will be a booth/lab area set up on the
exhibition floor with the demonstration and ongoing testing. In this
configuration, attendees can work the demonstrations and talk to
the engineers that helped put together the demonstration. Additionally,
there will be a separate classroom for the one hour VoIP session we
offer to exhibition attendees.

Are there any requirements on participants?
==========================================
The only requirement for participation is providing a SIP implementation
and some technical support (either in the form of an engineer on site for
hotstage and/or the event or via telephone if that is sufficient).

Is this an interoperability test?
================================
No, the motivation here is to demonstrate the current state of standards
based SIP technology. We test multivendor configurations and demonstrate what
currently works. We try to show what works, not what doesn't...

What is the timeline for this demonstration?
===========================================
We will be staging for the event the week of August 28th in Belmont,
California. Setup for N+I Atlanta is September 22-25, and the event itself
is September 26-28.

What are the benefits for participating?
=======================================
This is an opportunity to continue some interoperability testing while
participating in a multivendor demonstration of SIP technology. The
participating vendors will also be acknowledged in a number of ways
including signage, our website, and recognition during the classes
we will be offering to attendees. Our goal is to provide attendees
with an opportunity for a hands-on introduction to SIP technology.

Where can I get additional information?
======================================
Please contact me, Karen O'Donoghue. I am coordinating this particular
demonstration for the iLabs. I can be reached at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
