Hi,
A single sip-adress may be curresponding to multiple physical
entities, as all of them might have registered with the same contact.(Eg:
Your phone, mobile-phone or even your PC client will be registering with ur
adress as contact). In such a case when a call comes to you the proxy may
fork the call and all these instances will get this request, and while
responding the entities put a "tag" in To: field in their response for
identifying them. Also when they send some request in the same call(say BYE)
they uses the same "tag" in the From: field.
Also while initiating a call an entity must put a "tag" in From: when it is
possible that two instances of a user sharing a SIP address can make call
invitations with the same Call-ID.
Hope this clears things...
Cheers,
