Hi
Hrishikesh, 100 TRYING can be given by UA or Proxy. When a request arrives at proxy/ua from client and it is supposed to take more time to process the request then ua/proxy should give 100 Trying to client. For example there is a SIP gateway which understands both SIP and ISDN. After getting a SIP Request at SIP gateway if it is required to contact ISDN side and then respond back then SIP gateway can send first 100 trying and later can send 200 response after contacting ISDN Side.

Subject: [Sip] What does 100 signify

Hi,
What does 100 trying signify. Is it only generated by the proxy. If not when it has been generated by a UA client what does it mean. ?

thanks and regards,
Hrishikesh Saria
