Hi!

I have a few questions about SIP Registrar servers.

Is it "legal" to have a SIP Registrar that is a
separate entity from a Proxy or Redirect server?

If so, does it make any sense for REGISTER requests
sent to such a Registrar to contain 'Contact' fields?

Could someone please explain the significance
of the 'Contact' fields to a SIP Registrar-only server
if it does make sense.

If the 'Contact' fields don't make any sense, or if
a Registrar is implemented to not use them, what would
be the correct action on the part of the Registrar when
a REGISTER message is received with 'Contact' fields?
Should the 'Contact' fields just be ignored?
Should a Status 503 (service unavailable) or 501 (not implemented)
be sent?

Thank you very much for your help!
