I am not 100% sure but I think the additional parameters are added
to distinguish spirals from retransmit requests.

thanks

Subject: [Sip-implementors] Determination of retransmitted request

Hi,

I have a question on determination of a retransmitted request.
According to rfc2543-bis-02, Section 11.5, Item 2, a request received is a
retransmitted request if Call-ID, From, To and CSeq values exactly match.
According to rfc2543-bis-03, Section 15.5, Item 3, a request received is a
retransmitted request if Call-ID, From, To, CSeq, Request-URI, and
branch-ID in the topmost Via exactly match.

I'd like to understand reasons as to why we needed to add two additional
fields to identify a retransmitted request. I think it may be related to
the support of redirect capability or forking proxy, but i am not sure.
This probably has been discussed many times before; but i haven't followed
much and i'd appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Thanks,
YoungSun
