Hi meeta

Actually the retransmit timer doubles after every retransmission ensuring an
exponential back off. So
If proxy is taking care of retransmissions then it should retransmit with
exponential back off.

Subject:        [Sip-implementors] Reliability for Proxy

Hi,

Reliability mechanism for INVITE and NON-INVITE method is explained in
draft.
Is it applicable to proxy also? Please clarify.
When proxy receives request or sends response it acts as server.
When proxy sends request or receives response it acts as client.

Assume non-invite case for unreliable transport protocol
UAC----------->PROXY---------->UAS

UAC retransmitt request with exponential backoff.
When proxy forward the request downstream it acts as client.
Does proxy also retransmitt the request with exponential backoff.

In my point of view proxy will only forward the request downstream.

Thanks in advance.

Meeta
