Hi Ranga,
If a sip request is received on a TCP connection, but the first Via header indicates that the sent-protocol was UDP, I think the server should assume that the sent-protocol in the Via header was erraneous, and reply on the TCP connection. But that is my opinion. The draft-ietf-sip-rfc2543bis-05 seems to assume that the Via sent-protocol is correct, but it also tells how a proxy can add an received parameter to an erraneous Via header. Thus the server may not have to assume that the Via header is correct. Regards, Hkan ========================= Hkan Jonsson BlueLabs South AB icq:105666541 Hello! An elementary question: If I have a sip request that is sent on a TCP connection and there is an error in processing but the first via header indicates a UDP protocol, should I send the response to the address in the first via header or through the tcp connection that the server just accepted? (I am guessing that one should use the via header to send the response but I just want to be sure.) Thanks. Ranga. -- M.
