Hi,

I'm testing my SIP implementation with the SiPit torture tests.
The test cases 24, 25, 32 and 33 are testing the SIP URI with
escaped headers or characters. But they confused me. According
to the RFC 2543 bis9, I can't find that headers in a SIP URI can't
contain escaped characters (Sec. 19.1.2). The URI examples given
in Sec. 19.1.3 also demonstrate that escaped characters can be used
in the header fields. By looking into the formal BNF definition in
Sec. 25, the grammar still says that it's legal to use escaped characters
in the header fields of a SIP URI. But it seems to conflict with the
torture tests. Could someone clarify this?

Thanks.

Xavier
