Dear SIP implementors:

We have put together a test tool that may be of interest to sip
implements that is part of the NIST-SIP implementation. The tool is
suitable for scripting call flows and its intended use is to protocol
test end components such as user agents. It works by defining a call
flow script using a set of XML tags and attributes to specify the event
driven behavior of the call flow. By defining things this way, the
protocol behavior is simple to understand and modify. Thus both correct
and incorrect protocol behavior can be defined and simulated in a
simple and repeatable fashion.

We have now web hosted the tool and it is running at the following URL:

http://www.antd.nist.gov/sip-wit/index.html

The motivation for web hosting the tool is to provide a standard web
accessible suite of call flows to reduce dependence on bake-offs.

There are a number of rough edges in the tool and the suite of test
cases currently hosted is small but I expect that we will add several
new call flows in time as the application of the protocol evolves.
Eventually, we will allow you to script and submit your own
customizations of call flows but we are not there as yet. I would like
to see this tool and the test suite grow to become a valuable community
resource. For this, your feedback is vital. I hope you will try out the
tool and email me with suggestions about how to improve it and make it
more useful to you.

Thank you in advance for your comments and suggestions.

Regards,

Ranga.
