Hello,

I have a question concerning chap. 16.12 Summary of Proxy Route Processing in
RFC2543-bis09:
First "the proxy inspects the Request-URI and if it indicates a resource owned by this
proxy, the proxy will replace it with the result of a location service". Afterwards
the proxy will inspect the topmost Route header field.
As far as I understood, the Request-URI is updated if there is more detailed
information about the UAS available, but routing is done according to the topmost
Route header.
Is this replacement of the Request-URI a MUST for the proxy even if a Route header is
present? Is it a big advantage to do this at a early time, before the network element
given in the bottom Route header field value is reached?
How should a proxy proceed if the location service would return more than one
SIP-contact at this point of time? Forking seems not to be the correct action if a
Route header is present.

Thanks,

Hubert Streidl
