There is also a tool called SIPness (forgot where I downloaded it from),
wherein you can "manually" prepare any SIP message (e.g. a 3xx response) and
send it to the interested party.

This is slightly painful initially, but with growing experience in the
cut-paste technology :-) on Win platform, I actually found it pretty handy
to generate those odd messages (e.g. to put on hold) in the midst of a
session.
