The location server is meant to provide directory services ... so it would be best if it is kept separate from the other SIP components. Anyway the location server does not form part of the SIP product suite.
 
The proxy, registrar, & redirect servers can be co-located ... depends on your overall system architecture:
   -> If the system is expected to handle a lot of registrations, it would be better to keep the registrar separate from the other two
   -> If the system is expected to handle field users heavily, the redirect server might be kept separate
   -> If it is a real time system, and if all these components are kept separate, the messaging time between them might hamper the system performance
 
These, and other such parameters, should be considered before deciding on the co-location of these components.

i have query regarding the combination of proxy,redirect and location server. is it necessary to implement redirect server or i can work with proxy and location server with registrar server. now for registration and authentication do i need to keep registrar server with proxy or i need to colocate it with location server. which one will give me better output.
