It is allowed to send ACK and other requests over a different transport (as long
as it is determined as per chapter 18 of 3261), but it is RECOMMENDED that
same connection be used to complete a transaction. (refer page 141, first paragraph).

Subject: [Sip-implementors] Question of using TCP in SIP

All,

Suppose a SIP UA A initiates a call by using TCP to another SIP UA B, if in B's responses to A the contact header of B does not specify transport parameter as TCP, is A allowed to send the ACK and subsequent requests to B by using UDP, or should A continue to use TCP to send further requests to B?

Any comment will be appreciated.

Steve
