Hello!

We trying to develop a voice messaging applet as a demonstration application ( http://jain-sip-applet-phone.dev.java.net ) where we are encoding a few seconds of voice, compressing it and sending it through a SIP MESSAGE as part of the MESSAGE body.

Is there a standard way to package encoded media in the body of a MESSAGE. (ie. how do I specify the codec so that the receiver can understand it and decode the voice). We have our own scheme now but I should like to conform to a standard if there exists one so we can be interoperable with other voice messaging systems.

Thanks in advance.

Ranga.
