Hi, If you refer to RFC 3261, section 17.1.2.2, you'll find that a Non-Invite client transaction that receive a final response(200-699) while in the "Trying" state should transition to the "Completed" state and start Timer K ( 0 for reliable and 5 sec for unreliable).
In my understanding, even though this spec is sometimes not always clear (this case can cause confusion), you will have to start a new transaction what implies a new branch parameter. This should be a reaction of what is named the "TU" in the spec to build a new REGISTER, start a new transaction, add credentials and send it back to the destination. From-tag is for dialog purpose so I don't think changing it in this case would change something. Hope this helped, Kevin. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:sip-implementors- > [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Szilagyi, Mike > Sent: 21 avril, 2004 14:27 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [Sip-implementors] REGISTER/401 question > > If a UAC's REGISTER is challenged with a 401 Unauthorized response, is > the UAC required to send the same REGISTER with the same dialog > identifiers (from-tag, branch parameter) as the original REGISTER > request? > > > > Should the UAS accept the credentials for a REGISTER with different > dialog identifiers? --------------------------------- Kevin Bouchard, ift.a.
