Hello,

I am a student and I want to develop some SIP applications for my
final project. I was thinking of developing the SIP server-side which
should run mainly on windows 2003 server and also compatible with XP
and 98. As for the client side (I was thinking to develop a soft-phone
application, maybe with IM capabilities, but I'm not sure) I want it
to run on XP mainly, but compatible with 98 and, if possible, with the
2003. I want to know where should I get started. As tools I have
VS.net 2003, the development platform will be a win2003 server. The
test machines will be 98SE, XPpro and 2003std. I'm somewhat out of
documentation as far as the networking part goes, nor do I know which
APIs to use. I have developed a few years ago some simple apps with
winsock api, but what I want to develop now is by far much more
complex, and I don't know if the winsock api isn't somehow deprecated
nowadays. I would really appreciate any help on this one.

Thanks,
Cosmin Banu.
