A quick clarification. The 'Annotated version of the SIP RFC (3261)' paper can be
downloaded for free by any of the SIPKnowledge readers. To Henning's request I will do
my best to provide in the future an online web version of the paper (will just take
time to do that...). The first 300 annotations are mostly based on my personal SIP/IMS
product work (last 5-6 years). The rest will be taken directly from IETF resources
(e.g. responses to questions by SIP experts on this mailing list that have received a
"consensus").
Every annotation is reviewed and double checked to make sure it is agreed by the forum
of SIP experts. To your convenience there is a 2 pages sample on www.sipknowledge.com
(2nd entry in the table).

So far most of the annotations are directed at beginners and intermediate level (e.g.
I don't outline an algorithm how to choose a time based challenge to prevent replay
attacks. I do however explain how using the UTF-8 charset can benefit implementations
and help to create appealing services. I also at times provide ideas such as what else
can be done in registration time etc).

Enjoy :-)

Subject: [Sip-implementors] New material for developers

I am writing this as a response to numerous requests about SIP
references/resources/developers tools. Starting today you guys can take a look at the
Annotated version of the SIP RFC (3261). No modifications of course to any of the
contents of the SIP RFC (3261). Only additions of hundreds of footnotes, formatting
and hyper-links (external and cross references). People with Ms Word (web option ON)
can use it as a powerful working tool for back-and-forth navigation between associated
sections and elaborations/clarifications viewing. Downloadable from
www.sipknowledge.com.
